What would you do if your were Jacqui Smith?

 

Clearly Bob Quick was briefing himself for his meeting with Brown on his way to No 10.  When he arrived in Downing Street, he simply forgot to put the vital piece of paper back in the file.  This is easily done, especially for someone under pressure.

Jacqui Smith has had her reputation torn to shreds in recent weeks.  Bob Quick’s error gives her an open goal for some good headlines and to show decisiveness.  For that reason alone, I would not wish to be in this hapless Scotland Yard officer’s shoes this morning.
