Expenses probe to be televised

The BBC is reporting that the Committee on Standards in Public Life will let the cameras in when it takes evidence in June and July.

I am sure it will be make wonderful television.  It will do nothing to settle the matter, as the damage to MPs’ reputations is now firmly fixed in voters minds .  It is a meaningless side show that I am not sure is wise in the present heated atmosphere.

Televising the evidence will just make the wider public more angry with MPs than they already are.

  1. Get Anne Robinson in. Make the weakest link undergo torture involving ferrets and oven cleaner, 'fess up and the next in line gets the treatment. They can follow up with a free trip to Zimbabwe as a prize for the winner.
