That is the question that has to be asked of Brown following his statement earlier?
A couple of points.
Brown made no reference to the fact that Libyans were told that Our Dear Leader did not want to see Megrahi die in jail.
How typical of Brown to claim the credit that Megrahi didn't appear in public last night.
One can only imagine how the Americans will react to all this.
Brown may have succeeded in closing the matter down, but the damage has already been done. Not for the first time Brown has shown a total lack of leadership, and the resulting mess is his responsibility.
How to play catch-up the Brown way. This has been an abject lesson in how not to do it.
Megrahi didn't appear because he is too ill. They showed his triumphant return on a giant screen instead. In fact it was the finale. Brown continues to demonstrate why he is unfit to lead this country.
