Now that Stephen Hesford has resigned, Brown is saddled with a little difficulty after saying this yesterday:
I have concluded that no further action is necessary given the investigation and action that has already been taken by the appropriate authorities and her unreserved apology.
And sticking with the line today:
I just ask you to look at the perspective of this. Of course I will be tough on any wrong doing but in this case she did not knowingly employ someone illegally,
He can hardly sack her now and if Scotland chooses to resign, Brown’s judgement is found wanting yet again
It would have been much better to have dealt with the issue before he left, rather than for it to continue hogging the headlines.
After all he wants his few days away to be reported as a success.
