That clears that up

Worry no longer.  Brown did not perform a 'U-turn' on the issue of Libyan compensation for families of IRA victims:

Today, the Prime Minister's official spokesman said this was not a change of position, maintaining that the Foreign Office already provided support to victims families, and that the yesterday's announcement was about enhancing the role.

And the PMO:

….failed to endorse Ed Balls' suggestion today that no one in the government wanted to see Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi released from prison.

Still confused?  You are not alone.  All members of the Cabinet, apart the man who should be providing leadership, and the UK’s population of 60 million are in a complete daze over this one.
