What do we have here. None other than Charles Clarke popping up with another of his “hog the headlines for a few nanoseconds” non-events.
His latest wheeze is called “Labour’s Future”. There is to be a full-blown launch with various Labour MPs and the odd noble Lord thrown in for good measure. A pamphlet is to be produced “to counter the impression that Labour is intellectually exhausted”.
You can just hear good old Charles saying, “this not a ‘Brown Must Go’ campaign, but about setting out what needs to be done if Labour stands a chance of winning the next election” blah. blah. blah.
Charles, give it a rest. Our moment will come. We will get there, but not with a self-indulgent publicity stunt.
