Try as one must to find some good news, the papers are just dreadful for Our Dear Leader. Alistair Darling at long last says cuts on the way and then:
You don’t fight the next election the way you fought the 2005 and the 2001 and the 1997 election, because the world has moved on.
Here is Jack Straw saying trade and BP were factors in the inclusion of Megrahi as part of a prisoner transfer agreement with Libya:
Yes, it was a very big part of that. I’m unapologetic about that. Libya was a rogue state. We wanted to bring it back into the fold and trade is an essential part of it — and subsequently there was the BP deal.
Not much sign here of Cabinet loyalty or discretion to bring cheer to the Downing Street bunker .
