A badly timed resignation

The usual weasel words is use describe Malloch Brown’s resignation, "personal and family reasons".

Hmmm.  If this was planned, as he says, why wasn't announced at the time of the Cabinet reshuffle?  Why announce it at 23.00 hrs?  Why on the same day as the Brown faced yet another rebellion in the Commons?  Why announce it now when he is not going until the recess?

All rather odd, like so much that goes on in the Brown bunker.
