No Robert Peston on Today this morning to announce the hot news about HSBC’s rights issue. How strange I thought. Where is Brown's spinning machine? Well what do you know. He has gone to China for a week to do something useful.
Clearly, he will not be needed by No 10 this week to spin the latest leak. Brown would not want him hanging around with little to do, as he may create mischief, like reporting that the loans guarantee scheme is weeks behind schedule. This did not even get a mention on the BBC news this morning.
Let us hope that there isn't some financial crisis while Peston is away. How will we all cope with impartial reporting!
