The Goodwin saga has taken a nasty turn. Sir Fred’s home has been vandalised. A group has claimed responsibility for the attack saying:
We are angry that rich people, like him, are paying themselves a huge amount of money, and living in luxury, while ordinary people are made unemployed, destitute and homeless.
This is a crime. Bank bosses should be jailed. This is just the beginning.
Well no. This has got to end. Brown has let this story run for weeks, using Goodwin’s pension as a smokescreen for Labour’s economic mess. He has whipped up public anger:
The behaviour in the RBS, where very substantial additional payment awards were given, is something that makes me angry and will make the public of the country angry.
Brown should now clear up the sorry story of Goodwin’s pension. He can start by telling the truth of what Myners was told and when about Goodwin’s pension.
Mob rule is not acceptable nor justified in any circumstance.
The Prime Minister has the responsibility to end this sorry tale immediately. Real leadership is now required rather than Brown’s usual tactical games before matters take a tragic turn.
