Last night Caroline Flint said:
I am staying in the Government. I am very proud to be part of Gordon Brown's Government.
Half way through the press conference it flashed across the screen that Flint has resigned.
She says that Brown treated her as "female window dressing" and that he leads a "two-tier government: your inner circle and the remainder of the cabinet". She adds that Brown has "strained every sinew" of her loyalty to the government.
Amazing stuff.
We now back where we started at the beginning of the day, with Brown’s premiership in desperate trouble.
UPDATE: Here is Flint’s letter of resignation.
