It is back to the future with Brown. The BBC are reporting that the ‘saviour of democracy’ will make a statement to the Commons tomorrow on voting reform. Nick Robinson said:
The prime minister's statement will not endorse a change of voting system nor any particular system but it will call for a debate on whether the electoral system should be changed and which new system could be adopted. It will not set out a timetable for any change.
Oh, and it will boldly be announced that for any change to happen a referendum will have to take place.
More rushed out policies (the Democratic Renewal Council has only been in existence for a week) to create dividing lines with the Tories and in the hope of getting the LibDems on board.
