Titles are not enough for Mandy

Mandy is about broaden his property portfolio.  The DT’s Mandrake reports that that the Business Secretary and de facto deputy prime minister could be offered Lord Malloch-Brown’s coveted grace-and-favour apartment in Admiralty House:

Peter is working extremely hard and may welcome a 'crash pad' close to work," says my man in Whitehall. The opulent flat was previously inhabited by John Prescott while he was Tony Blair's deputy and is where he entertained his secretary Tracey Temple during their two-year affair.

A spokesman for Peter Mandelson, who bought a town house in Primrose Hill, the fashionable area of north London, for £2.4 million in 2006, says the "issue has not arisen". A Cabinet Office spokesman adds: "The use of the flat is in the gift of the Prime Minister."

As Mandy tells Brown what to do these days, we can assume the flat is his.  There is no truth in the rumour that the “personal and family reasons” that Malloch-Brown gave for resigning were that he was going to lose the flat to Mandy.

Perish the thought!
