Two bankers and long knives

Twenty for hours after Sir James Crosby goes from the FSA, Glen Moreno rules himself out to be permanent head  of UK Financial Investments (UKFI) after his suitability was questioned at PMQ’s.  He is a former trustee of Liechtenstein Global Trust (LGT), a private bank being investigated by the German tax authorities and accused of facilitating massive tax evasion.

This follows on from Brown and Darling’s statements of support:

Both the Prime Minister and the Chancellor have absolutely no issue with Mr Moreno and the job he is doing at the moment.

Oh well, as Jeremy Thorpe said of Macmillan's Night of the Long Knives:

Greater love hath no man than this, that he lay down his friends for his life

How true dear boy.

  1. Brown is a dead man walking! No judgement, dear boy. That's his problem.
