There is something odd with this proposed deal at the Lindsey Oil Refinery. It is being reported that more than 100 new jobs will be offered to British workers but no foreign workers will lose their posts. Details will not be published until Thursday.
This does not add up. Has the sub-contractor suddenly found that he needs more workers carry out the contract? Even if this was the case, who is going to absorb the costs of these extra staff assuming the contract price is fixed? If there are these “extra jobs” how can they be guaranteed to be given to UK workers under EU law?
Many unanswered questions in what increasingly appears a fiddle. The details are eagerly awaited.
