The above picture is used in Alan Bennett’s brilliant play “A Question of Attribution” about Anthony Blunt and his unmasking as the 4th man.
The picture is unbalanced, so in the play the young man on the right is rubbed out to reveal the identity of an older4th man.
It can now be exclusively revealed that if you do rub out the young man what is revealed is Titian’s age when he died!
PS. The above two links are to Wikipedia. They are fairly accurate. I doubt the young man that altered Titian’s earlier today would know who Blunt is!
