Typical Brown, again

Gordon Brown keeps at it.  Last week we had these conflicting statements on Afghanistan, and now:

I have spoken to President Obama and I expect him to announce in a few days what his numbers for Afghanistan will be," Mr Brown told British MPs on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, a White House spokesman insisted that the decision was “still weeks away”

Downing Street has said the PM he had been “using that phrase in the vernacular”.

Just why does he do it?
